TREND: IMPROVING / ONGOING / DETERIORATING
With the crazy winds over the past week the little snow that was around has probably been blown to Fiji! All jokes aside, the backcountry over the past week has been bullet proof. We have had 15 - 30 cm overnight in areas on the Main Range and there is still a moderate wind out there so there will be wind slab forming on aspects lee to the SW. The wind slab could become an issue if it doesn't bond to the melt freeze layer it has fallen on.
All indications are that the snow is wet below 18oom and a lot dryer above 1800m so be careful on steeper terrain above 1800m on those lees slopes.
Snow continuing today (Friday 20th July) throught to Saturday and then a nice day on Sunday to get out and find those fresh POWDER stashes!
