Everybody knows that here we are pretty realistic about beacons and consider them simply an aid to safety rather than a solution. We don't campaign that beacons must be carried, it's your call. OK, but you have a right to maintain the highest safety standard available to you in your chosen pursuit, right? That said, it's clear that anyone guiding in alpine terrain would likely make them mandatory as an OHS protocol, likewise anyone training in alpine safety needs access to the most current tech. That 'tech' is access to the 457kHz frequency.

Yes, this is a very arbitrary case of corporate red tape wrapped around something they most likely have no idea could create an issue. It's highly unlikely anyone would get caught, however, that said... if satellites fall out of the sky I'd hate to be held responsible.
